ReFoReMo 2017
I was invited once again to write a post for ReFoReMo (Reading For Research Month), a month-long celebration in March where writers and illustrators of children's books are encouraged to read mentor texts in order to strengthen their craft. Reading (a lot) is one of the easiest and most effective ways to internalize picture book story structure., which, in turn, can make your own writing better.
A different guest is invited to write a post for each day of ReFoReMo, which means you get a wide variety of book recommendations from a wide variety of expert writers and professionals working in children's literature. Here's the schedule for 2017:
My post reviews 10 picture books I reference for their command of language, at times inventing language, featuring dialogue in new ways, or challenging the way we think about story in general. And if you visit the post and leave a comment before the end of March, you'll be eligible to win this prize:
Matthew is giving away a 30 minute Skype session on a topic of your choosing. Brainstorm story ideas. Critique a manuscript. Develop a personalized recommended reading list to support your ReFoReMo experience. You name it.
