Top 10 Tuesday: Books About Princesses
Today is the first day of school in our county and it's my first year at a new school. In my decade plus in school librarianship I have yet to encounter a year where "princess books" aren't requested weekly, if not daily. We set aside a special shelf for these books so that they're easiest to find for our youngest patrons (the ones requesting the most). I try to make sure our readers see princesses of all types in that collection and these titles are my newest go-to's. Two stories are classic princess tales retold in new ways. One story brings a crocodile into the castle when a princesses' wish goes awry. One story compares the lives of storybook princesses to that of real princesses of yore. And one story has a sword-wielding hamster who doesn't bat an eye at dropping everything to save her kingdom.
